On Mute (2021)

As I continued to work from home about a year into the covid-19 pandemic (which I felt very lucky to be able to do), I realized I hated my old work commute. With the incredible amount of sacrifice involved in keeping myself and those I care about safe and healthy, there was at least that one thing I was very grateful to no longer have in my life. It's absence, among an entire landscape of pandemic-fueled absence, was actually a good thing. Created in collaboration with Amanda Almeida, Zullyvette Muniz, Mariah Castillo, and Jayleen Maldonado, On Mute is a piece about absence. I think absence is a relatively neutral term. It just depends on the thing that's absent.

On Mute was presented as part of CUNY Lehman College’s (Bronx, NY) Dance and Dialog from October 4–5, 2021.
